REPORT – THE vulnerable 15-year-old from Blackpool was groomed by Robert Ewing, 60,  who later beat her to death. He was sentenced to life and will spend at least thirty years in prison.  Paige’s disappearance in August 2007 was blamed by the English Defence League on Muslims. Her body has never been found. Her life hit a downward spiral after her mother died and her father largely abandoned her because of alcoholism.  Ewing who is a member of the BNP and EDL was described by the judge at Preston Crown Court as ‘devious’. He had killed Paige to stop her reporting his unwanted sexual contact with her. He showed no remorse throughout the trial and smiled for his police mugshot. He had previously served a twelve month prison sentence for indecently assaulting a 13-year-old girl. A second man, Gareth Dewhurst, 46, was sentenced to eight years for helping to dispose Paige’s body.
