CHECHNYA, Grozny – Russia fought two wars in its break away republic – the first from 1994 to 1996 which resulted in President Boris Yeltsin pulling out his troops. But that conflict was restarted in 1999 once Vladimir Putin came to power at the Kremlin. Russia pulled its troops out of Chechnya in 2009.

Cathy Newman Channel Four presenter claimed she was ushered out of a UK mosque – unfortunately for her there was a CCTV camera that showed what really happened. The South London Mosque in Streatham which was at the centre of the media storm generated by Newman’s allegations accepted Channel Four’s apology – but also said the whole debate was surrounded in a ‘fog of Islamophobia.’
